DM3000. Standalone Switch.
DM3000
Standalone Switch

The DM3000 family offers 4 different switches. All models are 1U high and can be installed in 19" racks. All supporting wire speed operation, there are models focused on L2 or L3 applications.

Characteristics
  • Wire speed operation: L2 and L3 packet forwarding is performed at hardware level with rates up to 12.8Gbit/s, and up to 9.5 millions of packets per second;
  • QoS with 8 queues per port, including traffic prioritization algorithms;
  • Up to 4,094 simultaneous VLANs: port-based, protocol-based, double tagging (Q-in-Q);
  • Redundancy Protection Mechanisms: STP, RSTP, MSTP e EAPS;
  • Hot-swappable full range AC/DC redundant power supplies;
  • SFP ports supporting mini-GBIC modules with different reaches and fibre options (when available).

Management
Centralized management is provided through DMView NMS over Windows™ or Solaris™ platforms, supporting FCAPS model and redundancy. The equipment also provides Command Line Interface (CLI) with automatic syntax help, which is accessible by either Telnet or Console RS-232. SNMPv1, v2c and v3 and 4 RMON groups are supported. The switch fabric units also provide an out-of-band management port.

It is possible to keep up to 2 firmware versions and 4 different configuration profiles simultaneously, choosing which one will be loaded during the equipment initialization.

Security

To guarantee the network security, products of DM3000 family allow a reliable management structure through user authentication, authorization and accounting via RADIUS and TACACS+. They also support alarms notifications, a unique clock via SNTP, protection against Denial of Service (DoS/DDoS) and Syslog (remote and local).

DM3000 family also offer mechanisms of protection against broadcast, multicast and Destination Lookup Failure (DLF).

QoS

The DM3000 offers 8 queues per port, supporting advanced scheduling algorithms which can ensure that determined data flows are prioritized accordingly. The equipment also allows the configuration of queue weights and maximum allowed forwarding rate for all physical ports. The traffic classification is done according to IEEE 802.1p standard, IP Precedence field or DSCP. QoS statistics are also provided, allowing full network traffic visibility.

The traffic shaping mechanism provides a granularity of 64kbit/s for Committed Information Rate (CIR) and Peak Information Rate (PIR), and can be applied to either incoming or outgoing traffic.

VLANs

Virtual LANs are fully supported on DM3000, allowing the usage of 4.094 VLANs simultaneously, according to IEEE 802.1q. Double tagging (Q-in-Q) is also supported, allowing the support of Transparent LAN Services (TLS). It is also supported Protocol-based and port-based VLAN with overlapping.

Protection Mechanisms

Spanning Tree, including RSTP for shorter convergence times and MSTP for better resource allocation and improved scalability are fully supported, as well as EAPS for ring topologies. This allows DM4100 models to be part of Metro Ethernet scenarios supporting automatic protection switching and providing faster service restoration times.

Applications

The DM3000 products allow the building of Gigabit Metro Ethernet L2 (with EAPS or xSTP) or L3 Networks with 100Mbit/s access ports.

Also, the DM3000 can interoperate with other high capacity nodes either being part of ring topologies or operating as access switches.
